Basic Info
Name:Jaquotte Delahaye
Location:HI
Bio
Jacquotte Delahaye

Age: 26

Sex: female

Physical Description/Personality:

Standing an average 5'5", with steely hazel/grey eyes, salt-water napped rock-black hair, and a very light olive skin, Jacquotte's a strangly aluring, yet intimidating french bucaneer turned pirate. She walks with a gentle swagger, like that of a slightly drunk person or a woman dizzy from a night of waltzing. Like most pirates, she's been injured and scarred in various places on her body from battles and mishaps. One in particular, a very deep scar under the right side of her jaw, caused by a very angry Captain Ainslee of man-of-war HMS Exellent, in an attempt to cut open her throat. Were it not for her quatermaster Robert Bowen at the time, she wouldn't have lived to tell the tale of it.

Taught from childhood, Jaquotte is patient, and often quiet at times, only speaking when spoken to, or when giving orders to her crew. Though silent, she's not to be underestimated or brushed off as "just a woman". Often pushed aside as a token of bad luck for being female, Jaquotte seems to have a private reserve of anger for those particular occasions. Anyone who's been on her crew and/or have been in the path of that rage will advise everyone to avoid it, or expect a musket ball between the eyes.

To be taken more seriously, she'll don man's clothing, often tucking her hair into a bandanna or hat to make her seem more masculine. Other times, she will dress more womanly, with little jewelry, daring anyone to say something about her being a woman. She often seems confused and torn between her likes and dislikes of being a woman in her profession.

Because she started as a bucaneer, she was immediately thrust into a world of democracy and organization. As a pirate captain, she is always together, and ruthless about order and fairness. There isn't a barnacle out of place on her ship. Though she seems hard and cruel, she's fiercly loyal to those loyal to her and her own. She loves and feels for her men(and sometimes women), and sees them nothing short than family. Jaquotte is never without someone who would trust their life to her, and give theirs for her's just the same. She's a fighter, never been one to stay on the sidelines, sending her loyals into the fray. If there's a risk to die, everyone has a fair chance.

It's difficult to get Jaquotte Delahaye into a long conversation, whether it's from nervousness on her part, or that she never really has all that much to say. It's often hard to tell what she's thinking or the kind of mood she's in. A look from the side could mean an irritation, or an interest. A stare from across the room could mean an attraction or the want to pick a fight. A rare smile could mean a liking, or an inevitable shot from a pistol. Only when she starts to trust you will you start to understand the way her mind works. That's if you get that fair.

Background/History:

Jaquotte Delahaye was born the daughter of Jacques Thébault Delahaye and their spanish maid, Ana, in Champagne-Ardenne. His wife was Madame Georgette Delahaye. They were a broken family of quickly-becomming-poor aristocrats. One of 6 girls, she and 2 others were sent to live with richer relatives in Paris. Elevated to highclass living in Paris, Jacquotte was taught a "proper" way of living, and though she never complained, she secretly despised it. Her older siblings were quickly married off to wealthier men, and Jaquotte was left a quiet young spinster. Though she had beauty, her mullato skin and silent brooding nature brought her no suiters. Secretly, so secretly she wouldn't even tell herself she enjoyed it, she loved to sit at her window and watch the taverns where the roughnecks came to drink and tell stories.

Then the Fronde Civil War came, and her wealthy family soon became in debt as her old one did. Knowing they were going to send her somewhere else, Jaquotte stole men's clothing, packed, and left. She traveled through the countries, trading and buying means of protecting herself, avoiding battles the whole way. It was a strange scary world for a girl of 17, raised in the powdery lifestyle of a highclass parisian.
Along the coast, she found a ship hiring hands. Never having been on the water, and ready for something new, she volunteered, only to be turned away for being a woman. She tried bucaneer ship after ship, turned away every time for her gender, until finally she threatened a man at gunpoint to allow her on. Impressed by her firm attitude and wanting to live a while longer, he allowed her to sail with his crew.

At 22, she left his ship, and comfortable in the world of bucaneering. He sent her off with her share of money, and a little extra. After only 5 years, she was ready for her own ship, and he was glad to help her. Once settled with a farely relunctant crew, Jaquotte went into business for herself. At 24, she made a reputation for herself as a bucaneer, ruthlessly scowering the West Indies, with a name as well known as Henry Morgan. On a fluke, looking for Montbar, Captain Ainslee of the HMS Exellent stumbled upon Jaquotte by Saint Kitts. Recognizing the name of her ship, The Executioner's Daughter, he immediately started a battle.

Ainslee's crew ambushed Jaquotte at a tavern, and nearly sliced her throat open, but quatermaster Robert Bowen sent a cutless through Ainslee's shoulder. The buncaneers ran back to their ship, Jaquotte in tow, and quickly made sail as their captain lay bleeding. She vowed to find Ainslee to repay him for her brush with death. Shortly after that, Jaquotte became curious of other parts of the seas, and started venturing away from shore-side ransacking. She became a fullfledged pirate captain, and though not very well known, she's remembered by the people she's encountered.

Jaquotte never took any husband to date, but she has been known to encounter Bartholomew Roberts aka Black Bart on more than one occasion, and they often anchored in the same cities for particular reasons.

Current Location/Whereabouts:

Last seen touring the West Indies for oldtime's sake, Jaquotte is currently headed for Tortuga, then Jamaica or the Cape Verde Islands.
